In order to simplify the initial installation of eKnit-Kards desktop (and especially the Palm Sync process), we have prepared this guide which will show you what to expect and how you should navigate the installation. But as with any instructions, the biggest challenge for the author is having the user actually read these instructions!

Install eKnit-Kards Desktop Locate and run Setup.exe in the main folder of the file that you downloaded. Yes Yes

After installing eKnit-Kards, you need to access your Palm for the first time No Yes
Connect your Palm to computer (backup data if you have not done so already)   Yes
Navigate to the Main menu of eKnit-Kards Desktop -  Locate the top menubar within eKnit-Kards Desktop and tap the "Sync Palm" button

Make sure your Palm is not on an eKnit-Kards screen. Go to your calendar or any other screen.   Yes
Follow all of the instructions and go through 6 sync cycles This is a one time process   Yes
IMPORTANT
On the last sync, decide whether to send your Palm data to Desktop or vice versa

After installation, check both desktop and Palm to verify that data transferred properly.   Yes
Press the "Sync PDA & Desktop" button after selecting Sync Palm for all future syncs. This will be a normal 2 way sync. The other sync buttons are for one way syncs and will erase all other eKnit-Kards data on the receiving device. Use them only after a catastrophic loss of data on hard drive or Palm.   Yes

Notice to LifeDrive and Palm TX users - In order to have your Palm sync correctly when using Addit software, you will need to disable Addit. Addit has caused problems when used with Palm's Quick Install (click here to see Palm's report on this subject). The problem is not caused by eKnit-Kards or Satellite Forms (our engine).
